The Bulacan State University Microsoft Student Community (BulSU MSC) held its first workshop entitled โPitchTech Bootcamp | Empowering Tech Visionaries to Conquer the Stageโ on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Function Hall of Bulacan State Universityโs E-Library.
The event marked by insightful speeches, interactive sessions, and a shared sense of enthusiasm was joined by students, professionals, and enthusiasts eager to dive into the world of technology and entrepreneurship and it was.
Axl Louis Coronel, BulSU MSCโs Public Relations Director, and Clarissa Gail de Guzman, a member of BulSU MSC, opened the program with warm remarks and engaged the audience in an interactive session to gauge their expectations for the boot camp. That was followed by a solemn prayer led by Mr. Coronel, and with the singing of the national anthem and the BulSU hymn.
Mary Queen Casaclang, the Vice President of the BulSU MSC, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, wherein she expressed gratitude and extended a warm welcome to all attendees. After that was an icebreaker game which added a fun twist to the event.
The first speaker, Mr. Jean Eren Fajardo, a full-stack developer and co-founder of SDPT Solutions, presented “The Start-Up Launchpad.” He emphasized the importance of defining success, finding passion, and building a supportive community. He also shared his journey and spoke about his successful YouTube channel, SDPT โ a channel about programming tutorials in various languages, which has nearly 100,000 subscribers today. Mr. Fajardo encouraged attendees to step out of their comfort zones to learn and grow. After his speech, a certificate of recognition was presented to him by BulSU MSC President and Vice President.
Mr. Lester Phil Cruz, one of the advisers of BulSU MSC congratulated Team Open Soars for winning the championship in the recently held Samsung Create Competition and encouraged everyone to engage in activities and events that will represent the college.
It was followed by the introduction of the second speaker โ Engr. Yeoj Vincent Mariano, President and Founder of Sentrify Technologies Corp., shared his entrepreneurial journey and how it started. Engr. Mariano highlighted the importance of finding a good team, staying rooted in passion, and enduring failures and downfalls on the path to success. He ended his speech by saying, “Find a good team, find good people that will have your back”.
Hon. Ariana Marie B. De Jesus, the President of the BulSU Student Government (SG), was also invited to deliver an inspiring message. Her short message focused on embracing failures as part of victory. She reminded the attendees that many geniuses and successful individuals have emerged from failures, emphasizing the role of perseverance in achieving success. “Failures make us who we are today”, she quoted before ending her message.
Before the event ended, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions to the two speakers.
The event concluded with the remarks by the BulSU MSC President and Founder, Ryka Gene Austria, who expressed gratitude to all involved parties, including the BulSU MSC, speakers, advisers, and attendees. She left the audience with an optimistic note, stating that “the future is bright.” The workshop ended with the participants singing the BulSU march and a photo opportunity with the speakers. – Mary Rose Joy Robles
