The College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) held an orientation with incoming Bachelor of Science in Information Technology juniors on July 10, 2023, at 10 AM via Zoom Meeting.
The orientation headed by Mr. Aaron Paul Dela Rosa, the BSIT Head, tackled the differences of the specialization tracks and catered questions from the students regarding the said topic.
During his opening remarks, Dr. Keno Piad, the college dean, said โang gagawin lamang po ng CICT [ay] ihahain laman sa inyo ang isang basong tubig.
Dr. Piad also shared various things happening within CICT, such as the ongoing renovations of the building.
The orientation then proceeded with the introduction of the specialization tracks; Service Management Program (SMP), Business Analytics (BA), and the Web and Mobile Application Development (WMAD), respectively.
Mr. Orlando Bernaldez, the area chair for the SMP, differentiated the different tracks. He then discussed what the students taking Service Management can expect in the said field, along with the possible job opportunities.
Following was Dr. Lilibeth Antonio, the BA area chair, who started off with explaining the expanding world of Data Analytics. She also tackled various strong points that students taking Business Analytics should have.
Lastly, the discussion about WMAD, began with Mr. Gabriel Galang, the area chair’s clarification about the programming misconception which led to students avoiding WMAD. He also defined what WMAD is, and showcased the various projects of the trackโs alumni.
